I have dreamt of doing denim for years, because I'm obsessed with jeans. I love all shades of denim and I've always been fascinated by denim design. I knew that if NAMAI were to do denim it would need to be up-cycled because I don't want to use virgin materials. But the shape of our jeans and shorts took years to form in my head. They needed to be just right and I needed to feel like I'd want to wear them every day.
Traditional denim production is heavy on resources. We take a different approach, rebuilding each piece from deconstructed, reclaimed jeans...follow below to see our denim process:
1. Source, wash and air dry the vintage denim:

2. Using our design pattern, each panel is cut out of a different pair of jeans..

3. Next, everything is pieced together, with unique colour combinations and sewn together into a totally unique pair of pants!

4. Everything is washed again and given a Namai Label.

5. Then comes the really fun part...when the pants arrive in the Studio and we get to do a try-on photoshoot with our favourite styles!

6. The last piece of the process is, of course, YOU!
I am so proud of how our denim jeans and shorts turned out and feel so lucky to be part of giving these jeans a new life, with our customers. Explore the denim collection now and be part of keeping the story of these jeans going.
And let us know what you think, we'd love to hear from you!
Love,
Bianca xx
