MEET GRACE Our new studio assistant talks about her journey in sustainable fashion, what excites her about NAMAI, and dishes on her favorite NAMAl pieces.

The embroidery on the Suzanis are so distinctive, and I love the spirals-they're my favorite motif.
What did you study, and why?
I studied textiles, merchandising, and fashion design at the University of Rhode Island, with a strong interest in sustainability. I've always loved expressing my creativity through clothing and wanted to understand the fashion system more fully-from materials to production -especially after learning about its environmental impact. Having that well-rounded background has helped me better understand and appreciate everything that goes into making clothing and running a brand. Since then, l've been sharpening my sewing skills, working on my own upcycled pieces, freelancing as a sewer, and working with small local brands that prioritize ethical practices, including MadexHudson and Namai.

The little, almost hidden flower motifs were so playful and whimsical to me! The multicolors against the black binding really pop, and the cropped cut is so easy to style.
What do you like about working for Namai?
What love most about working for Namai is how much care goes into both the process and the product. Every jacket is completely unique, and the colors and patterns of the quilts are so striking. They feel special, but still meant to be worn and lived in. It also feels rare and special to be part of a brand like this in my own town.

I love the pink and white floral and cloud shapes against the dark background; it feels almost mystical. The knee-length cut is perfect for wrapping up on chilly days, and I've really been enjoying the cozy, enveloping feel of a longer coat recently.
What are you looking forward to this winter?
With so much snow this winter, it's the perfect excuse to layer-chunky knits are my go-to, and it makes going outside a little more bearable.
